Closet Costumes with Paint the Gown Red

Hello Wandering Past readers! I’m Jamie of lifestyle blog Paint the Gown Red and I’m here today...to save the day! For all of you procrastinators out there looking for a last minute costume, look no further. Delores and I are swapping blogs today and sharing simple costume ideas comprised of items you probably already have in your closet. Hooray! Be sure to head over to Paint the Gown Red to see Delores’ neat idea, and keep on reading for mine.

Introducing a super easy Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz costume using clothes from your closet. For this costume you really only need three things. 1. A gingham dress, preferably blue but really any color will work. 2. A basket bag. Or a plain old basket. 3. Red shoes. Bonus points if they’re sequined but they don’t have to be. Now style your hair in two braided pigtails leaving room at the ends in the typical Dorothy fashion and voila! No need to click your heels, you’re done! If you have an adorable puppy, you should probably bring him trick-or-treating. My cats were not enthusiastic about the idea, unfortunately.

My favorite part about this outfit is that it allows you to resurrect some awesome summer trends: gingham and basket bags. Here you thought you’d have to wait a whole year for some summer style. Not if I can help it! Well, I hope this helped some of you figure out your costumes for tomorrow. But if you need a little more inspiration, head to Paint the Gown Red to see Delores’ costume. It’s pretty great. A huge thank you to all of you for being so welcoming today and to Delores for sharing your blog with me. Hope to see you cool ghouls again soon!
